February 6, 2026Case Study: Weld 4-Level Tiered Garden in Dobbs Ferry, NY
Some of the best kitchen gardens start in the most overlooked spaces. For this Dobbs Ferry home, we turned an unused, weed-choked corner of the property into a clean, four-level tiered garden—built for easy access, clear structure, and low-maintenance paths.
The Challenge: An Unused, Weedy Corner
This area wasn’t being used and had become overgrown. The space needed definition, a smart way to manage grade changes, and a layout that would feel intentional—not like an afterthought.
The Solution: Reuse Materials + Build Clear, Level Structure
We created a tiered garden that feels organized and easy to work in, using durable, practical materials:
-
Cleared and weeded the corner to reset the space and establish clean edges
-
Reused existing stone steps leftover from earlier construction to create the four-tier transition and maintain a cohesive look
-
Built level beds and level paths across all tiers for comfortable planting, harvesting, and maintenance
-
Installed landscape cloth with white gravel paths to suppress weeds, improve drainage, and keep the garden looking crisp throughout the season

The Result: A Finished Garden That Feels Built-In
What was once an overgrown corner is now a purposeful, four-level growing space with clean lines, stable footing, and paths that stay neat. The tiered layout improves usability on the slope, and the gravel walkways keep maintenance simple—so the garden stays inviting from spring planting through fall harvest.
